Volunteer Award | Liz Rego

Liz has been with Oakville Thunder since 2015 when she began coaching a 17U Girls rep team. The following season she would continue her volunteer journey, not only coaching but also by joining the executive in the role of secretary. That role has continued to evolve as she has taken on a multitude of jobs to ensure the success of the club. She provides a confident base of support for all coaches, athletes and their families each season. Liz works tirelessly completing all OVA registrations, communicating with families, social media work, organizing the annual banquet and generally being available for all of the Oakville Thunder community whenever there is a call for help or a question to be answered. Liz is entering her 10th year with Thunder and it’s safe to say  we would not be operating without her commitment and dedication to the volleyball community.

Liz is incredibly selfless and gives so much of herself in order for the  athletes to participate in youth sports. She is a one of a kind human and we are so grateful to have her as a part of the Oakville Thunder Volleyball Club!

Coach Award | Tim Treacy

Tim has been part of the Thunder family even prior to being a coach here as he supported his wife and daughter who coached and played for the club respectively. Tim then joined Thunder to coach a team during the unknown time of the Covid pandemic. Regardless, he jumped in fully committed and navigated some difficult times with unwavering strength and leadership for a young group of athletes, including his other daughter. Tim continued coaching this team through to their 18U year, even after his daughter stopped playing to focus on other athletic pursuits. In his time with Thunder Tim created an environment where a group of girls were able to form a close-knit team who were also highly competitive. Tim is teaching players valuable life lessons about respect, friendship, confidence and commitment to a team and each other.
Tim is truly deserving of this recognition for the work he has put in with Oakville Thunder and his long time commitment to coaching athletes in the sport of volleyball.
